Strong thunderstorms, including the possibility of a few tornadoes, will threaten parts of the central Plains and Mississippi Valley tonight and on Tuesday. The storms are expected to fire overnight tonight from Kansas north to South Dakota and east into Iowa as a warm front pushes north across the Plains.

A storm with strong lightning strikes moved through the area of Beebe, Ark., Friday, shortly before birds were reported falling from the sky. The Arkansas Game and Fish Commission began receiving reports of dead black birds falling from the sky at approximately 11:30 p.m. CDT, according to a press release.

The same storm system that brought damaging weather conditions to Arizona and the Southwest last week is pushing thunderstorms skyward over Texas, Louisiana and Kansas Monday evening. Pennsylvania is not the only area being hit by severe thunderstorms Monday evening.

The Four Corners region will once again become the target of locally violent thunderstorms today. However, the severe weather danger has shifted north out of recently hard-hit Arizona. Today’s threat zone encompasses eastern Utah and western Colorado. This includes Blanding, Utah, and Grand Junction, Colo. A portion of Interstate 70 also lies within this area.
