Denver: Severe Storms Hit The Area

Storms knocked down trees and damage businesses in Lincoln and Gaston counties Sunday.

Severe storms hit Lincoln County Sunday night. Several businesses near Highway 16 in Denver were damaged. An automotive store had part of its roof knocked off.

A tree also fell onto a mobile home park with one person inside it. Neighbors say they pulled the man out and called rescue crews. He was taken to a hospital as a precaution.

Duke Energy crews have been working through the night to restore power to residents. At one point, more than 2,700 customers in Lincoln County, 8,300 customers in Gaston County, and 8,000 customers in York County were without power.

Duke Energy’s website showed Monday morning that crews had restored power to many residents, but 4,700 customers in Gaston County, 1,700 customers in Lincoln County and 700 customers in York County are still without power.
